Yawn !!!

There was a Pay and Practice session at the race track last weekend. The turn out was huge. There were about 20+ cars on the track . With a lot of first timers, it was fun to watch few of them go off the track, or spinning off half way.
Something I realised, that these Panning shots were starting to bore me.

Some of the cars here : Vijay's Ford 1.6 above, Kaushik's Corolla below

Rock On !

After a while, it was offroading time again. In attendance were 5-540s,1-3B, 1-500D and a MG410w. It was a long drive all the way to kelambakkam, which is about 25-30 kms from Chennai. After clearing a couple of obstacles, we moved further inside, where we saw this water catchment . None of us imagined a place like this in the middle of no where.

Vijay drove around Arka's jeep for a bit and seemed to love every moment of it.
This obstacle seemed to scare Karthik a bit. Look at him waving his hand out

Next week its action on the tracks.

The Art of Panning ..

I have never seen such a crowd in the MMSC race track here. The event was the MRF Racing Challenge spread over three weekends.

Though we were supposed to stay in the grand stands and watch the straights, we could manage to sneak out and get some good pics from C10.

The view from C10 is far better than the view you would get from the straights. On the downside, there is no place to sit, no vendors to sell refreshments , no commentary.

Jumbo Dreams

It was a exciting weekend at Thengumarahada, near Sathyamangalam. We drove to this place, courtesy a friend who also had a very experienced forest ranger accompany us. We left Sathy, at around 5pm and by the time, we entered the forest it was past sunset.
We had a elephant charge us and almost topple our jeep. Fortunately, it was the ranger's presence of mind that saved us. The next day , was time for some safari inside the forest. This is apparently the pug mark of a tiger. It had crossed this path probably a day earlier. We also spotted black bucks and a lot of spotted deer.

One short of saying, "say cheese "..

Tusker on top of a hill

We were also accompanied by a tribal who grew up in this forest. It was he who spotted the elephants on this hill. I shot this with my 300mm. Imagine spotting this with a naked eye.

On our return back.. more black bucks

The Greener side of our planet

It was a long weekend and we had to plan something and get out from the city. Help came from Uday. This time it was a long drive to ( my favourite ) Karnataka. This time, no stops at Bangalore but then, just a straight drive .

Above : NICE road leading us out of Blr. This road is a boom for those who dont want to get inside Blr traffic.

Mullaingiri is the highest peak in Karnataka. This is where we went. And while we drove, all I could see is greenery and more greenery.

This peak is always covered with mist.
